I'm planning on getting a really cheap diesel to use for work, going to and from the station, client visits etc. Basically so I can keep the miles off the Exige and just use it when I fancy a 'drive'

I had intended to get a diesel, so it pays for itself over time. I quite fancied either an MG ZR or MG ZT (the later 2004 facelift models) They seem good value and look ok.

However I'm struggling to find one that isn't too far away or done stupid miles. So I've started looking at other cars and wondered about LPG. On the face of it an LPG converted car returns as good and if not better MPG (pound for pound) But is there any extra costs to take into account?

What I have got my eye on is an 2003 Hyundai Coupe with LPG. Its got a tank in the spare wheel well (important as I need a boot) leather interior, auto and 2.0 engine. Its done just over 100k miles. I've always quite liked the look of them so quite keen.

However should I wait for a diesel that fits the bill?

As a side note my budget is £2k, so the cars I'm looking at are 100k miles plus

I have a few friends who swear by their Peugeot 205 / 206 / 306 Diesel runabouts. Cheap to buy. own and run and they will have lost all they are going to loose in depreciation.

A two second look on e-Bay shows 100's of the things. Something like this maybe?

A mate of mine has a lovely one owner Mk4 Golf GT TDI for sale. Its pretty low mileage I think and apparently in awesome condition. I dont know how much he wants for it, but it has to be around your budget I would of thought.
