Esprit,

I've been following your thread very closely - and this finally swung me in the DVA direction. However, I'm not looking for 270-80 bhp (wish I could afford it - mechanical numpty me).

Clive,

Fill refresh assuming new liners and pistions, balanced 1444 cams, ported / gas flowed head with double springs, balanced crank, baffled sump. Nothing major, just built properly with the right stuff, possibly 200-10 bhp. I just want it built right, and able to handle a good few track day thrashings. Power isn't everything.

I look forward to seeing you so our engines can chat and catch up.

Clive.

I reckon with that you should be fine... perhaps 215 as LotusGray has from his DVA with that spec! wink

Good man!

Come over and see me in April to see what you are going to get. Are you going for the same spec as me?

Im not yet decided on what to do. Honda or refresh and tune up?

The refresh/tune though is looking quite expensive. I could built it myself but i would need to send it for balancing which would be costly to ship all the parts to the UK? and with all the work, power is still 210bhp or so. This is what I have from my standard unopened 2ZZ-GE and that is without ITBS even. :S

The major issue I have is with the gearbox. 210bhp might be perfectly fine for my use but the gear ratios are crap and need to be much shorter. Getting a close ratio set is quite expensive though. Ideally would like something like Skeggs is selling but that gets very expensive and frankly about as costly as an all out DIY Honda I could do in my free time with my connections.

The VHPD sounds great and is light though. Decisions decisions!
