The simple answer could be that there was no buyer for the asking price or in short: too expensive.

That's what I was trying to say about the current Exige S1 market: no cars are moving for the high prices.
Let's wait and see how fast it sells. I think it will sell for this price but I'm not sure if I would call it a crazy price.

I 100% agree with Trackrod. I’m a MASSIVE S1 Exige fan and as most know made a huge mistake in selling mine and want another. And have £’s to buy. BUT without wanting to offend anyone or these fantastic cars there is currently only 8 or so available globally and none has yet sold at these prices - the market just dictates that that is the answer.

One person advertised his in the £50’s and whole market jumped in that direction. That was just being speculative and based on being 1 of about 1 in that market road registered and cost the owner £20k in import taxes and licensing so had its own story.

I want to buy, no secret, but I have to do so with my head, and no evidence suggests an Exige is worth more than high 30’s or very early 40’s. There is massive demand for S1 Sport 160’s and 3 of these aren’t selling in the mid £20’s and and Exige was never worth 2.5 times a 160. A S1 sport 190 has been on the market for over a year at £40k, far rarer if your buying to invest.

If all the Exiges on the market suddenly sell for >£50k then I’m pleased for the owners, the brand and that they are getting noticed. And frankly I’d of missed the boat but had the pleasure of past ownership and some great memories so not bitter about it. Just with all the massively wealthy investor buyers out there, a true global market and not one has gone. I think it might just be that they aren’t in that value region as yet. Sure one day it will happen. But they are super niche.

I hope this car sells, with £10k price drop and 7k miles it deserves to. I’d be happy with a 30k mile car in the £30ks ;-)

Disclaimer: The following isn't aimed at anyone in particular and nor is it intended to offend.

The recent discussions on price are, to me, utterly pointless. I bought my Exige for what it is, not for what it's value might do. Whether it is now less or more than I paid is immaterial; I still love driving it and even after 16 years have never tired of just looking at it.

Talking values up (or down) is always going to cause issues for 50% of the people; if prices rise it's a problem for potential buyers and if they fall then the sellers aren't happy.

Best, then, to stop sounding like estate agents and enjoy the cars for what they are!

Klaus is quite right. It’s worth what is worth to you. We must remember that they are very specialist cars. Hard to get in and out. Smelly. Not the easiest to drive. Hot. ..... grab attention everywhere you go. Howl like an angry thing. Wriggly and transmit the road. Drive like nothing else. .... but not everyone’s cup of tea who had been brought up on bland and rubbery cars.

For that reason they will never be quick sellers.

Tlracer, fair enough and I get your point although the 'stop the estate agent talk' is quite chewy :-D
Enjoying the car is the best you can do once you own one, I fully agree.
But for people that either like to buy or sell a car the current asking price situation is difficult to deal with.
It is frustrating for both sellers and buyers as no one can move on.

Cheers, Klaus

Not disagreeing with the ethos or that there is no point in talking values up/down. Or that it's a better use of time to just enjoy them etc. Just indicating there are currently a number of people that want to sell their cars and an audience who would like to buy them, but the past 12-18 months has simply shown that the recent sale price expectation and the price people are willing to pay for the are not the same.

But now no one wants to be the first person who has sold too cheap or paid to much so hit a stale mate!

I just sold this,
https://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds ... 00/8670541

Had quite a bit of interest and the first to see bought it, the red one looks cheap now at £45,500 but probably held back due to lack of history while its been stored off the road for years
