Re: sorting VHPD drivability issues

Jonny, are you running the original ECU on your Exige? If so the MAP based load calculation seems to be quite sensible to changes in the exhaust system. I fixed a small leak at the joint between the flexible section and the headers and I noticed an improvement in drivability. Sorry, I don't know if ...

Re: S1 induction noise

Keith, is the large hose the genuine Lotus one? My car came with a simple large hose which I replaced with the original double layered one. That greatly reduced the induction noise. I once drove the Exige completely without the hose and it was incredible noisy. I think Lotus initially fitted two of ...

Re: New stablemate for the S1........

I like your new family van but I may me biased as I'm also driving a VW T5 as the family car. Although ours is a less luxury, ordinary long wheel base Transporter. I'm a big fan of the VW Transporter, they are relaxing to drive on long journeys with plenty of room inside. https://up.picr.de/36039080...

Re: Car re think

Have a go in an Up GTi and see if you like it. It is pretty agile and nimble, cheap to buy and run. Of course you shouldn't expect anything like true sports car performance. But the little GTi has a beautiful balance between every day usability and fun to drive. My wife and I are frequently dashing ...

Re: sorting VHPD drivability issues

Good to hear that the idle MAP value finally dropped to a similar value like on my Exige after the fix. So it looks like that checking the idle MAP value gives a valuable first indication if there is something wrong in the induction/exhaust system. I think it was 'thommo' who reported that when he f...

Re: sorting VHPD drivability issues

Good news that you finally found the reason for the rich running, thanks for sharing  What do you think, how did the exhaust leak messed up the mixture? Could be that the missing back pressure had an influence on the MAP values or maybe some air has been sucked in to the exhaust system and ...

Re: Exige s1 Failed constant velocity joint CV

Yes, a failing CV boot is a common problem area of the Exige S1. If you are unlucky it might even set your car on fire. I've added a heat shield between the drive shaft and the exhaust to my car. I hope that it will prevent the boot of getting toasted. It's made of aluminium sheet metal, covered wit...
