My car's running great right now, so I've obviously just ordered some FiveO Motorsport 450cc injectors. Of course I have, why not... When they arrive I'll take another quick visit to RRR to get them to set everything up for me and then, no doubt, I'll find myself glued to the door of track-group who are just next door :/

Somebody. Help me! :lolno:
Its the worst place to ask for help in here.

We are all afflicted.

...and ordered a Radium Fuel Rail.. if I'm going to be messing with the injectors, may as well upgrade the bling in the same area at the same time... right?

Basically, I'm pretty sure I'm trying to systematically recreate @jonnyfox old S2 Exige!

I can't see a downside to that... this is getting exciting.

Sounds like a great day and photos look awesome.

Don’t want to tempt you, but here’s National with a short ratio box on an N/A

Fonzey wrote: Thu Jul 30, 2020 10:10 am Good stuff, 20 laps of Donny is a good stint so I reckon most braking setups would have something to say about that! Is it fair to say you got some pedal back after it all cooled down a bit?
Oh, okay - I thought it was maybe failing a bit prematurely - good to know it's not considered terribly unusual... I might try to reduce my tendency towards so much heavy braking, but those RS14 pads work so well, it's a shame not to exercise them fully, lol...

Yes, I let it cool down and the brakes worked just fine again - but I started to not trust them (understandably) so ended the day a bit slower than I would've liked... :/ I'll get the fluid changed and see how I go again :)

Every time I go on a track day now, I'm just thinking "Gah! A close ratio gearbox would be SO goooooood!!!"

Ha! I was watching your video just a little earlier today - looks awesome and, have to say it - you are a MUCH better driver than me, so full marks on that department! :)

Can I ask if you have any engine mods at all or is it standard? Any brake upgrades? Just very interested - don’t have many other NA owners to ask questions! ;)

Glad you've signed up David, been oogling your videos for a while (sounds pervier than it is) - intoxicating stuff on your setup.

Edited: Just looking back at that vid the Manifold is not fitted there. You can hear much less induction noise and checked the dates and it went on after this.

Thanks Matt. I spend quite a bit on tyres (ZZRs ) and have done in driver training over the years as this is the best bang for your buck in my view.

I have had the car for 10 years and it’s evolved gradually over time.

It has 2bular manifold (huge difference I found) sports cat, 2bular 8” back box, TRD air box, Hangar 111 GT map with the lower cam change. Lightweight flywheel.

One good mod I did was forged cup 260 wheels as the reduced rolling mass made the car feel quicker and ride better.

Brakes are standard just with braided hoses. But I run CL RC6 and cheap discs (EBC grooved) and just eat through the cheap discs. Braking performance is incredible with that set up. But I bleed the brakes about 3 times a year as this is where you loose performance and confidence ( as you said).

I had some driver training from Jake Hill (BTCC) which involved him lapping my car and he couldn’t believe how it stopped.

Back on Track look after and set the car up for me, who I can’t recommend highly enough. They’ve guided me through the mods over the years!

Thanks for all that info, David!

I do think I'm going to have to 'cave' and accept that I need to improve my driving before doing too much else - I'm absolutely positive that I'm driving my car at about 75% of its capability most of the time because I'm frankly a little scared that I might not be able to control it if something unrolls differently to how I'm expecting... I'm still able to get past a lot of 'faster' stuff on track days, but that doesn't really mean much, it just means that most other people are also not driving their cars too great either, lol. When I look at videos of my driving it seems to be calm and smooth - but not pushing the car's dynamics towards their limits (aside from the brakes, which as I've said - I kind of went past their limits the other day, lol)

Thanks again - hope to hear lots more from you over the years! :D

Hi Matt,

They’re not the easiest thing on the limit, that’s for sure! But they’re such fantastic cars on track. Wouldn’t change mine for anything.

Winter track days are always great, low grip, cheap and quiet. Gives you a chance to have a few spins and moments to learn how the car reacts. Also spent many hours getting my “hands co-ordinated” when the car goes sideways on things like Gran Turismo. Then gives you the confidence to push on knowing your will instinctively catch it!
