I have an S1 that wont produce a spark, various mechanics and auto sparkies have looked at it. The last sparks got it starting for about 20 starts and now its stopped. My thoughts are putting an ecu on that I can see whats happening or not happening. It doesn't have to be Emerald.

Alternatively long shot here can I hire one ?

Which immobiliser does your car have - only I'm assuming you have tried starting with it bypassed?

Maybe a problem that I encountered.

Do this:

Leave spark plugs in but pull leads off and attach to 4 new plugs.
See if you are getting sparks.

We have had the alarm and immobilser removed from the car and the software deleted from the ECU. Got some advice today which I am going to try and will report back. Thanks for the advise

If you have simply removed the immobiliser it won't start... and yes, as long as the bodies of the new plugs are grounded on the car, they should spark with the leads attached.

What software have you had removed from the ECU?

My theory is that the cable from the crank sensor could be loosing the generated 1.2v a.c. in the loom . Preventing a start. Even if the wires are connected, doesn’t mean the light voltage is getting to the ecu.

So, either remove plugs from engine but earth them and put leads on the tops. Are you getting a spark?

Waiting for news

I have had the immobiliser part to ecu deleted.

I tool all the plugs out and cranked it over no spark. Not sure what I will achieve repeating process with the plugs installed

As above, the car will not start if the immobiliser has been removed.

Please explain what you mean by "immobiliser part to ecu deleted".
